Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a set of bagpipes to get started?
No, you won't need bagpipes to start learning. Pipers start out on an instrument called the practice chanter. The practice chanter is the instrument that all pipers use to learn. It allows you to learn the fingering and music of the bagpipes. The practice chanter is quieter than the bagpipes, less expensive and portable. It makes learning easy! If you need to buy a practice chanter, my shop stocks the top options. Visit BagpipeLessons.com/shop!
Where can I buy a practice chanter?
When you sign up for this course, you have the option to purchase a high quality practice chanter made in Scotland by the famous R.G. Hardie & Company bagpipe makers. When you select this option, we will mail the chanter and reed directly to you anywhere in the world. You'll have everything you need to get started learning.
Do I need any musical experience?
No! This course is designed to take you from the very beginning. All you'll need is a practice chanter — everything else you'll need is included in the course. This course is also perfect for pipers with some previous experience who want to make sure they are 100% solid on the fundamentals of piping.
When does the course start and finish?
The course never ends! You can access the lessons anytime, anywhere and work at your own pace. It is a completely self-paced online course — you decide when you start and when you finish.

After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like, across any and all devices you own.
